1) XP Screen Saver Problems

Jeff wrote - I have been trying to change my screen saver and the changes wont take. I go into the screen properties and change the screen saver to the one I want, I have created my own theme and saved it with the settings I want. The next time I start my computer the screen saver has reverted back to the WindowsXP screen saver. All of my other settings remain intact, just the screen saver doesn't seem to register.

Kelly answered:
Check your setting for the screensavers path. Here are some examples:

2) How To Take Ownership Of Files/Folders

Tricky Dicky posted - My PC died.. Bummer. Didn't have any backup solution either. I know, I know. Anyway - repaired XP and did manage to recover some old files. However, I can't get into my old 'MyDocuments' and 'Desktop' folders as the parent directory is locked and I get an 'Access denied' message.

3) Get The XP2 Upgrade On CD

Mirium asked - I have a dialup, really slow, but I have XP original and want to update it to XP Version 2. Is there a CD I can get without having to buy a new copy of Windows XP?

5) Bios Seems To Be Frozen Once I Get In

PierreCAN asked - I have the weirdest problem. I can get into my bios no problem, but cant make any changes. It's like just going into the bios locks up my PC. Ever hear of this? I even tried removing all my cards and drives, changed ram, etc.

*** Yes, oddly, sometimes your cpu fan which may be connected to your motherboard for power may be the reason. Rarely, sometimes cpu fan motors simply mess up the operation of your motherboard. When this happened to me of course I tried a new cpu fan, but alas, it was from the same batch my partner and I bought from a dealer, so simply trying a different brand cpu fan fixed it. It was one of the oddest and time consuming niggles I ever had.

Heck, we even tried booting from a bootdisk and using a few bios reset apps. but even those didn't work until we changed the cpu fan.
