1) A Better Registry Scanner For XP

Dave F. asked - I'm after (preferably freeware) a registry editor that allows me to search for a certain text string through the whole of the registry & display all results in a dialog instead of asking me to press F3 after every find. Does such a program exist?

Nepatsfan answered:
You might want to try this program:

RegScanner v1.51 - Registry Scanner:

2) Remove Hotfix Backup Files

Sven P. inquired - In my C:\WINDOWS folder I have a huge amount of Uninstall file folders accumulated over the last two years. Most of these folders will be of little or no interest once the upgrade to which they refer has proven stable, and many of them are obviously superseded by more recent upgrades as well.

I should appreciate some advice for a proper procedure to clean up my Windows directory by deleting these folders.

3) Registry Cleaners For XP?

JohnH posted - I treid to use easy cleaner http://www.toniarts.com

As guest and it came up with307 invalid entries which it wouldn't delete (fortunately?). As owner I used it and deleted 4 entries. Any comments?

4) IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Frey asked - IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. What could cause the problem?

Ron M. suggested:

5) Hot PC In Jupiter Florida

Cindy J. wrote - I just moved to Jupiter Florida and now my PC is locking up with no error messages after only a few months living here. The case also seems hot when I touch it. Any hints on what I should try to fix it?

*** Chances are your PC is on the floor and is sucking in a lot of dust. This dust clogs up the case intake vents and also accumulates in the cpu fansink and cpu fan. Best bet it to get a can of "compressed air" and blow it all out. You will have to take the cover off the case to clean out the cpu fansink and cpu fan, and any case fans, including the power supply fan. Chances are this will fix the lockups. If you keep your PC on the floor of your room chances are it's been acting as a vacuum cleaner eg even sucking in more dust. Try to keep your PC elevated.
